Me and my purpose for this blog

I’m happily married with 3 wonderful boys.  Two are in elementary school and one is in a preschool coop that I help teach once every 8 weeks or so.  We love being creative.  Too often life gets in the way, so this is my blog to help us find more structure and find our focus on art and living the lives we want to live.  I have generally been opposed to structure in the past and found it too demanding.  As structure has been imposed on us, through school and other activities, I have realized that I need to make working with structure a priority so that I can do what I want to do as well as what I need to do.  This is my year to try to create that balance.  I treasure my unstructured time and my veg time as well so that will not be forgotten as I create this balance.    I feel the urge to live more purposefully.  This does not mean scheduling every section of my day but it does me that I need to consciously choose  how I spend my time and truly enjoy or hate each minute of it. 🙂 Cleaning is not one of my favorite activities but if I master the clutter and chaos of my house better then I will have more time and space for the clutter and chaos of creating(which I love).  Spending focused time on what I hate to do will allow me to spend focused time on what I love to do.

I plan to include my husband and sons on this journey because I cannot do it alone.  And they need to learn how to survive in the wilderness too (not literally). This will take realistic and clear expectations and communications.  It will take teamwork and it will be worth it.  I hope to create better relationships with them through this process and be able to do lots of fun creative activities together as well.

This will be about what works for me.  I am inspired by so many before me.  I will do my best to give them credit as I learn and grow this year.  Follow along and check out my shops for various things we create along the way.

  1. Hi! Can you tell me where you purchased the 3 compartment boxes for your tithing piggy banks? I would like to start the same thing for my 2 young children and I like that the boxes are simple and see through.

    1. I got them at Michaels or Hobby Lobby a few years ago on clearance. They were intended for baseball cards so I would use that to search on amazon for something similar. I found them near the shadow frames are the store if you want to look there too. Hope you find them!
